When to Fast?

This is what Jesus says about fasting:

 Luke 5 34:35

“And he said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? 35 But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days why should they when the bridegroom is with them?

So I prayed to be guided on the topic and was lead to these  four fasts that are mentioned in Zechariah.

Tzom Tammuz: The Fast of the 4th Month.
17th of Tammuz(Jun/Jul)

This marks the falling of wall of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar and the cessation of Temple worship during the siege of Titus.

Tishah B’Av:The Fast of the 5th Month.
9th of Av(Jul/Aug)

A fast day remembering the tragedies of the Jewish people. Many people also fast on the first of Av, since this is the yahrzeit of Aaron the High Priest. The Fast of Tishah B’Av is the second most important fast in Judaism (next to Yom Kippur, which is the most important fast day). On the eve of the Tishah B’Av fast, it is customary to eat a boiled egg sprinkled with ashes…

Tzom Gedaliah: The Fast of the 7th Month.
3rd Tishri(Sept/Oct)

The fast right after Rosh Hashanah honoring the murder of the Judean governor Gedaliah who was appointed by Nebuchadnezzar and served as a protectorate for the poor left behind in Judah. He listened to what God told Jeremiah the prophet: Jeremiah 40:9 “Fear not the to be servants of the Chaldees: dwell in the land, and serve the King of Babylon and it will be well with you” Unfortunately he didn’t listen to Johana and all of the all captains of the forces in the field who warned Gedaliah that Ishmael of the seed royal, was going to kill him. They even offered to go an kill Ishmael for him, in fear that the remnant of Judah would be scattered and perish.

Asarah B’Tevet: The Fast of the the 10th Month
10th of Tevet(Dec/Jan)

A fast day signifying the fall of the Jerusalem. In the State of Israel, Kaddish (the Jewish prayer for the deceased) is recited on this day for people whose date or place of death is unknown.

One thing I have to mention is that the disobedience of Ishmael came to me a few days before this post. The point is no one was listing to the man of God Jeremiah and his prophetic warning.
